Website / API monitors

Perch checks your site from the outside on a schedule. Nothing to install.

Set up in 3 steps

  1. Step 1 of 3
Add a website / API monitor
  2. Step 2 of 3
    Choose what to check
Pick a check type (see the table below) and enter the URL or host.
  3. Step 3 of 3
    Test it and save
Press Test to see the result right away, then pick an interval and alert channels, and save.

Check types

TypeWhat it checks
HTTP / HTTPSStatus code (default 200) and response time. Optional SSL and domain-expiry tracking.
KeywordThe page responds and contains a word or phrase you choose.
TCP portA port accepts connections, e.g. a database on 5432.
PingThe host answers ICMP ping.
SSL expiryDays until the certificate expires; warns ahead of time.
Domain expiryWHOIS expiry date; warns before the renewal deadline.

When does it alert?

A failed check marks the monitor down after the number of failures set in its notification policy (1 by default), opens an incident and notifies your alert channels. The first successful check closes the incident and sends a recovery alert. While down, Perch can re-check faster using the "down check interval".
